What is the largest V8 engine that can go into a 1989 Firebird that currently has a 2.8L V6 in it?

I have a 1989 Firebird and I am looking to upgrade the car. I have been told a 700R4 transmission is the best option, but I am wondering what the largest V8 engine is that can fit into this car. It originally has a 2.8L V6 engine.

Any gen 1 small block will be an easy swap and good fit.

Chevy 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, (383 stroker), 400
